Gujranwala Customs Intelligence confiscates smuggled cigarettes, toys and cloth

SIALKOT: A campaign started by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department to curb smuggling is in full swing in Gujranwala Division as it confiscated smuggled items worth Rs 500,000 in a recent action.

The officials raided various shops, plazas and markets in Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat to seize the smuggled items.

A team of the Customs Intelligence comprising Superintendent Muhammad Akmal and Intelligence Officers Majid Raza and Mian Muhammad Yousaf raided various shops. The officials recovered smuggled items, including cigarettes, toys, energy drinks, cloth etc. from a shop.

The officials confiscated the items under the customs laws after the alleged shopkeeper failed to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items. The officials said that anti-smuggling drive will continue in the region in order to tighten noose around the miscreants.
