Gujranwala Customs Intelligence divided into three divisions to curb smuggling

SIALKOT: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala Region has been divided into three divisions to curb smuggling from the region.

Customs Intelligence sources told Customs Today that the anti-smuggling campaign is still continuing on the special instructions of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). Sources said that the department has decided to divide the department into three divisions Gujranwala, Sialkot and Gujrat to eliminate smuggling from the region. Sources said that in the Gujranwala Division, checkposts will be established in Kamoke and Rahwali, in Sialkot Division, checkposts will be stet up in Sambrial, Daska, Pasrur and Narowal while in Gujrat Division, the  checkposts will be formed at Chenab River bridge, Kharian, Jehlum River bridge and Bhimber Road.

The intelligence Inspectors Miratab Ali will Incharge Gujranwala Division, Syed Majid Raza take the charge of Sialkot and Nasar Ullah incharge of Gujrat. Sources told that the two Intelligence Inspectors should Incharge of divisions but there is due to shortage of staff they will perform duties in limited resources. The staff is performing duty punctuality, honestly, diligently and zealously while providing much better results.

Sources told that the staff of department has played vital role to curb smuggling from the Gujranwala Region. Deputy Director Ali Zeb Khan and Assistant Director Itrat Hussain will look after all divisions whereas Superintendent Muhammad Rauf Farooqi and Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar check the performance of said Intelligence officers while they will bound to submit daily report to deputy director. Sources told that the department has also decided to set up an information cell for public so that the public get information from staff related to department whereas the public will encourage if the public will provide any information related to department and smuggling matters. Director General of department is very interested in the department matters while he instructed that any employee should not show negligence rather all employees should show best performance to strengthen the economy of country.
