Gujranwala Customs Intelligence impounds Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs 2.2m

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Gujranwala impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser Prado worth Rs 2.2 million. The vehicle was owned by a renowned exporter and PML-N representative Waheed Akhtar.

Reportedly, Waheed Akhtar was coming to Sialkot from Lahore on his personal vehicle, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, when he was intercepted at Kamoke Toll Plaza.

The Customs Intelligence staff demanded customs clearance documents, but he remained fail to produce the same; therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle under the customs laws. The officials released the Waheed Akhtar and his driver after initial interrogation.

However, Waheed Akhtar told Customs Today that he voluntarily handed over the vehicle to the Customs Intelligence, stating that he would get the vehicle released after the payment of duty/taxes.
