Following instructions, Customs Intelligence Superintendent Rauf Farooqi ordered Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar to constitute a team for checking of vehicles on GT Road in order to impound the defaulter vehicles.

However, the deputy superintendent and his team comprising Intelligence Officer Syed Majid Raza, Constables Asad Raza, Mubashir, Boota and others started checking of vehicles when it intercepted a Toyota Vitz car Model 2002 bearing Registration No AAM-057 and another vehicle Land Cruiser bearing Registration No BF-9753.

The team asked drivers named Rashid and Noor Mohammad about customs clearance of vehicles but they could not produce documents; therefore, the officials impounded the vehicles and shifted them to the office.

Superintendent Sajjad Rubani told Customs Today that value of impounded vehicles has been estimated at Rs 3 million. He informed that drivers were released after interrogation directing them to ask the owners of vehicles to pay leviable duty/taxes within three days to redeem the same. After expiry of deadline, the cases will be sent to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
