Gujranwala Customs Intelligence impounds vehicles, goods worth Rs 6m in August

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Gujranwala, has impounded three vehicles, 591 tyres, cloth and other various items worth Rs 6 million during August 2016.

Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Zainab Mehmood and her subordinate staff, including Superintendent Muhammad Rauf Farooqi, Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar, Investigation Officer Syed Majid Raza, Mian Mohammad Yousaf, Syed Miratab Ali Shah, Agha Naseemullah, Constables Asad Raza, Mubashar, Boota and others performed well during the said period in curbing smuggling under the anti-smuggling campaign launched by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The all team members impounded three non-customs paid duty vehicles worth Rs.4 million after the drivers failed to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicles. The intelligence officials also confiscated smuggled Iranian tyres, cloth and other items during the said period.

The cases have been sent to the adjudication for further legal proceedings. The Customs Intelligence will auction these items if cases are decided in favour of the department.

Superintendent Sajjad Raubanni told Customs Today that the performance of Customs Intelligence remained much better during August, adding that the officials will expedite the operations against smugglers in the region.
