SIALKOT: Gujranwala Customs Intelligence and Investigation team confiscated smuggled Iranian black tea and nylon rope worth Rs1 million from a van at Grand Trunk (GT) Road near Wazirabad.
As per the details, under the directions of Deputy Director Ms. Zainab Mehmood, Superintendent Muhammad Rauf Faooqi ordered Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar to constitute a team to check vehicle on GT Road. The Deputy Superintendent constituted a team under the supervision of Investigation Officer Mian Muhammad Yousaf. The Investigation Officer along with his team members constables Sajid Raza, Mubashir, Boota, Shoukat etc started the checking of vehicles on GT Road near Wazirabad bridge and intercepted a van bearing registration number RIP-06-8821 which was coming to Rawalpindi and going to Sialkot. During the searching of the van the team recovered Iranian black tea packets and Nylon rope worth Rs1 million from van. The team asked driver Raja Naeem about booking documents of said items but he was failed to produce documents and said that the said items were loaded from Bus Stand of Sawan Camp Rawalpindi and I don’t know these items. The team confiscated said smuggled items and shifted in the store of department whereas the team released driver after proper interrogation.
The team challaned of Bus stand Manager and sent notice to Manager about payment of challan whereas the team will also file the case before the Adjudication court for proceeding.
