Gujranwala Customs Intelligence seizes Iranian dry dates

SIALKOT: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department, Gujranwala, has confiscated Iranian dry dates worth Rs 80,000 during vehicle checking on Wazirabad Road.

Under the directions of Assistant Director Itrat Hussain, Superintendent Tariq Rafique constituted a team under the supervision of Inspector Saad Ullah to check vehicle under Iran Transit Trade to curb smuggling. The inspector along with his team including constables Usama, Shafique, Mubashir etc started checking vehicles on Wazirabad Road.

During the checking of vehicles the team intercepted a van which was coming from Rawalpindi and going to Narowal via Sialkot. While the search of the vehicle the team recovered smuggled dry dates worth Rs80,000.

The team asked the driver namely Habib Gull about booking papers of dry dates but he was failed to produce the same. He told that dry dates were loaded from Bus Stand Pir Wadhai of Rawalpindi and Bus Stand Manager knows better about booking papers. The team confiscated the dry dates and released driver with van whereas the team has challaned of driver.

Customs intelligence team shifted confiscated dry dates in the store of department. The department team will send case before the Adjudication court for hearing. If the court will announce judgment in the favor of customs intelligence and Investigation then the department will authorize to auction of dry dates as per customs laws and customs Act 1969.
