Following instructions, Customs Intelligence Superintendent Rauf Farooqi ordered Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar to constitute a team for checking of vehicles on GT Road in order to bust the smuggling attempt.

However, the deputy superintendent and his team comprising Intelligence Officer Mian Muhammad Yousaf, Constables Asad Raza, Mubashir, Boota and others started checking of vehicles when it intercepted a bus which was coming from Peshawar and going to Lahore via Gujranwala.

The officials conducted thorough search and recovered nylon rope and toys from the bus. The team also asked the driver named Gul Habib to show documents regarding legal import of the items but he could not produce the same. The driver revealed that the said items were booked at Peshawar Bus Stan.

Therefore, the officials confiscated the items worth Rs 120,000 under the customs laws and shifted to the compound of Customs Intelligence and Investigation. The team also registered a case under the Customs Act, 1969 against the accused person, while the driver was released along with vehicle after proper interrogation.
