Gujranwala Customs Intelligence steps up efforts to curb smuggling

SIALKOT: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Intelligence, Gujranwala has launched a crackdown against smugglers following the orders of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan.

An official of Customs Intelligence Sajjad Rubani told Customs Today that the department was conducting raids at different markets, besides tightening checking of vehicles on roads in order to control the flow of smuggled items.

He said that the FBR chairman issued directions to the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Intelligence to curb the menace of smuggling from the country.

If any shopkeeper was found involved in selling of smuggled items, he will be made to face the full weight of law, Rubani said, adding that accused shopkeepers will be sent behind the bars, besides confiscating the items.
