Gujranwala Excise issue property tax notices to 220 owners of luxury houses

SIALKOT: The Excise and Taxation Department Gujranwala Division has issued notices to 220 owners of luxury houses in Gujranwala division to recover Rs 110 million as luxury tax.

Director Excise and Taxation Rao Shakeeur Rehman told Customs Today that the Punjab government has levied luxury tax under the ratio of Rs 125,000 per kanal, including the posh localities of the cantonment boards. He said that the Excise Department has evaluated 210 residential houses to recover Rs 110 million. “Most of the houses are located in the cantonment areas of Sialkot and Gujranwala,” he said, adding that luxury tax needs to be paid once in the life time.

He said 136 houses were located in Gujranwala district, 37 in Sialkot and 26 in Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat districts. He said that no taxable house has been found in Narowal and Hafizabad districts.
