ASO Gwadar seizes 2.1 million litres of diesel in 11 months

GWADAR: Model Customs Collectorate, Gwadar’s Anti-Smuggling Organistation (ASO) impounded as many as 30 vehicles and seized over 800,000 litres of smuggled diesel in May, 2015, while overall in 11 months of the current fiscal year 2.1 million litres of diesel was seized from different areas of Balochistan.

The ASO also arrested 30 persons on different charges during the running fiscal yaer 2014-15.

Collector Gwadar Dr. Jawwad Agha has commended its team comprising Additional Collector Junaid Memon, Assistant Collector Tausif Aman Gurchani and others for their outstanding achievement with regard to their strategy of curbing the menace of smuggling.

As many as 36 First Information Reports (FIRs) were also registered during the year 2015, while in their actions against the narcotics smugglers, the performance of Gwadar Customs’ team was quite considerable as in two cases life imprisonment was awarded by the judge to four accused persons.

About 4,859 Kilograms of charas, 8 Kg of opium and 2 kg of crystal meth was also recovered during raids in an area which spreads over 88,000 square Kilometres, despite the dearth of human shortage and latest equipment and communication system.
