KARACHI: Gwadar Model Customs Collectorate has seized 12 kilogram charas during a successful raid in Omara and arrested two suspects.
Sources told Customs Today that during 12 raids against smugglers, the Gwadar Customs seized a huge quantity of smuggled items, included 12 kilogram charas.
As per the details, Collecter Saeed Akram received information regarding the smuggling of narcotics from Gwadar to Hyderabad. On this, he informed the anti-smuggling team and instructed them to use all available resources to curb smuggling. On the special instructions of the collector, the team established check points at the main entry and exit points of the city and started checking of vehicles.
During checking of vehicles, the anti-smuggling squad intercepted a passenger van and recovered 12 kilogram charas from it. The team seized the charas and arrested two persons, including driver. The customs official said that the value of the seized narcotics is more than Rs 1.3 million in international market.
Sources said that FBR directed customs authorities to enhance checking measures to curb smuggling attempts in the region. Sources said that due to strict measures adopted by customs departments there is marginable decrease is being witnessed in smuggling attempts.
