Gwadar Customs confiscates items worth Rs119m in Dec 2015

KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate Gwadar, while hitting hard on smuggling activities, has seized contraband items worth Rs 119.5 million during December of the current fiscal year.

Following the instruction of Collector Saeed Akram, the customs teams seized drugs, diesel, cell phones and other smuggled items.

In an action, the customs intercepted a truck near Khari, an area in Gwadar and recovered 80 kilograms of charas worth Rs 4.8 million, besides arresting two suspects. An FIR has been registered against them under customs laws.

The officials said that smuggling through Gwadar will not be allowed at any level, adding that effective strategies under the supervision of Collector Saeed Akram were being made to arrest the smugglers.
