Gwadar Customs confiscates several smuggling goods priced at Rs24.66m during September

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Gwadar seized a large number of smuggling items including smart fones, fancy electric boards, Iranian diesel, hashish, Iranian black oil, large numbers of bottles of wine, Indian silk, electronic items and so many other things worth Rs24.66million in September.

Today Customs Collectorate Gwadar confiscated a large number of imported laptops, non-duty-paid perfumes, imported watches and digital cameras valued at Rs3.66million.

Source told CT that, on a tip-off regarding the possible smuggling of said goods, Deputy Collector Gwadar Junaid Mehmood constituted a team of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Hamid Raza. The team, during a search operation, intercepted a truck bearing registration No KLL-232 which was going to Karachi via Hyderabad.

During the search operation, the customs team found 30 imported laptop computers, 300 pieces of non-duty-paid perfumes, 200 imported watches, 100 digital cameras and electronic key boards worth Rs3.66million.

The team impounded all the items including truck which was being used to smuggle these goods and arrested three smugglers identified as Taj Uddin Khan and Nadeem Sarwar.

The customs team registered an FIR against the accused persons and started investigations. Sources said this is the 1st raid of Gwadar Customs during the month of October.

Deputy Collector Gwadar Junaid Mehmood said we are working against smugglers and smuggling and, during the month of October, our team will give wonderful performance because we are announcing one more exclusive team.
