Gwadar Customs foils attempt to smuggle big quantity of hashish, wine

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate of Gwadar has seized huge quantity of imported wine worth Rs 1.5 million during search vehicle on Thursday. In another raid, the Customs Collectorate foiled an attempt to smuggle hashish worth Rs 1.3 million in international market.

According to details, on a tip-off regarding possible smuggling of imported wine in Bar area, Gawadar Collector Shafiq Ahmed Khan constituted a team of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Khan Ibrahim.

The team, during a search operation in Bar area, intercepted a truck bearing registration number HS-7653 registration of Hyderabad, which was going to Karachi. During the search, the customs team found 100 bottles of imported Spanish wine and  12 kilogram of hashish Rs 1.3 million in international market.

The team seized all  items and truck which was being used to smuggle these things and arrested two smugglers  who was later identified as truck driver Imdad Khan and Asad Ali . Source said that the total market value of seized smuggle items is Rs 2.8 million in international market.

Customs team after registering an FIR against the accused persons started investigations. Source said that this is the 10th raid during the month of August.
