Gwadar Customs foils bid to smuggle cooking ranges, stoves

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Quetta during a crackdown recovered a huge quantity of cooking ranges, and stoves and arrested three suspects.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs authorities received secret information that smugglers were planning to smuggle a huge quantity of cooking ranges, and electronic stoves. Deputy director Customs Intelligence formed a team which started checking of vehicles at main entry and exit points of the Quetta City.

The customs team intercepted a truck bearing registration no. BTO-654. During the checking, the customs team recovered 150 electronic stoves, and 100 cooking ranges. These electronic goods were being smuggled to Karachi and Hyderabad. Souces said that market value of seized electroic goods is Rs1.4million. The customs team also impounded the vehicle which was being used for transportation of these goods.

Customs team after registering a case started further interrogations. The accused persons will be produced in court soon.
