Gwadar Customs recovers huge quantity of smuggled Iranian diesel

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Gwadar seized a huge quantity of non-duty paid Iranian diesel in Jawar Khan area and arrested two persons.

Sources told Customs Today that the Customs authorities conducted 15 operations against smugglers and recovered 20 kilograms narcotics, 18,000 liters Iranian diesel and other contraband items during November.

Sources said that Collector Gwadar Saeed Akram received information that a huge quantity of non-duty paid Iranian diesel was being smuggled in Jawar Khan area. He constituted a team which intercepted a truck and recovered 22,000 liters Iranian diesel. The customs team asked the driver to provide any documents regarding possession and transportation of Iranian diesel but he failed to show any relevant documents.

Upon his failure, the Customs team arrested two people and registered a case of smuggling against them. Sources said that further investigations are in progress.
