Gwadar Customs seizes 22,000 litre Iranian oil worth Rs1.3m

KARACHI: Gwadar Customs Collectorate has seized 22,000 litre Iranian diesel during a successful raid in the area of Omara while two persons were arrested.

Customs sources told Customs Today that Collector Saead Akram received information regarding the smuggling of oil. On this he constituted an anti-smuggling team to curb the oil smuggling. The team formed check posts at main entry and exit point of the city and started the checking of vehicles.

During the checking vehicles the team intercepted an oil tanker. During the searched of the tanker the team recovered 22,000 litre smuggled oil. The team asked the driver regarding legal documents of imported oil but he could not provide any relevant documents. On this the team seized the oil and arrested two persons who were involved in smuggling. Customs official said that the value of seized oil is more than Rs1.3 million.
