Gwadar customs seizes contraband items worth Rs 30m during first ten days of July

KARACHI: Gwadar Modal Customs Collectorate has seized contraband items worth Rs 30 million and arrested 16 persons during the various raids in first ten days of July.

Customs sources informed Customs Today that Gwadar officials were active during the Eid days and checked every vehicle. During various raids, the team seized a huge quantity of imported wine, 600 kilograms charas, thousand litres Iranian oil, petrol and tea.

Modal Customs Collectorate of Gwadar has foiled the smuggling of foreign origin fax machines and three non-duty paid heavy bikes during two successful raids.

Gwadar Customs Collector Saeed Akram Akram received information a huge quantity of foreign origin fax machines were smuggled through a truck which were brought in Pakistan through see ways of Gwadar. Consequently, he formed a team under the supervision of Deputy Collector included preventive Ehsan ullah, Majid Sheikh, Shameem Sheikh, and Inspector Brahi Khan. The team formed a check-point near Sadef Palaza and started the checking of vehicles. During the vehicles of vehicles the team intercepted a truck which was filled by usable stitching machines. When officials properly checked the truck they recovered more than 120 fax machines which were hidden behind the stitching machines. The team seized the fax machines and arrested two persons who were involved in guilty smuggling.

In another operation, the team intercepted three heavy bikes during a successful raid at warehouse located in the area of Brohi. Customs sources received information three smuggled heavy bikes were brought in a warehouse. The customs officials raided at said warehouse and recovered three heavy bikes. The team seized the said bikes but no one make arrested. The value of seized vehicles and fax machines is more than Rs6 million.
