GWADAR: The Customs Collectorate seized huge quantity of Iranian blankets and shawls worth Rs 8.54 million on Saturday morning during a special crackdown.
Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Gwadar received secret information that some smugglers are trying to smuggle Iranian blankets and shawls out of Gwadar city.
He constituted a raiding team of the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Sarfaraz Tanoli and others. The team, during a search operation near check post in Gwadar Highway, intercepted a truck bearing registration number QBD. 346. During the search operation, the team impounded 1000 piece of different type of blankets and 300 shawals valued at Rs 8.54 million.
The team took into possession all the smuggling items and arrested two smugglers. Source said investigation is going on from arrested persons, after investigation FIR will be registered against smugglers.
