Gwadar Customs seizes huge quantity of Iranian diesel worth Rs8.50m

GWADAR: The Customs Collectorate seized huge quantity of Iranian diesel worth Rs 8.50 million including truck used in smuggling.

Sources told Customs Today on Tuesday that Deputy Collector Junaid Mehmood received secret information that some smugglers are trying to smuggle Iranian diesel from Gwadar to Karachi.

After receiving this information, he constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Yousuf Yahya Khan and others. The team, during a search operation near Gwadar road, intercepted a truck (oil tanker) bearing registration no GJA-7803.

During a search, the team impounded 22,000 liter Iranian diesel  valued at Rs 8.50 million including truck used in smuggling.

The team seized all smuggled Iranian diesel and arrested a truck driver, who were later identified Sardar Qayyum. Driver said in initial investigation I have not any documents about this diesel.

Sources told that Customs team after registering a case of smuggling against the accused persons started investigations.
