Gwadar Customs seizes huge quantity of tyres worth Rs8m

GWADAR: The Customs Collectorate has seized huge quantity of non-customs paid luxury jeep tyres worth Rs 8 million during a special crackdown on Thursday.

Sources told Customs Today that deputy collector Gwadar received secret information that some smugglers are trying to smuggle luxury vehicle’s tyres from Gwadar to Karachi and Hyderabad.

He immediately constituted a raiding team of the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Raja Waseem and others. The team, during a search operation near Jewani Highway Road, intercepted a truck bearing registration number QNS-381

During the search operation, the team impounded different types of luxury jeep tyres valued at Rs 8 million. The team took into possession all the smuggled tyres and arrested two smugglers. Source told that investigations are going on from arrested persons, after investigation FIR will be submitted against smugglers.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Customs Collectorate Gwadar has impounded non-duty-paid smuggle items during April worth 345 million.
