Gwadar Customs seizes items worth Rs 54m in May

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate, Gwadar, confiscated smuggled items worth Rs 54.5 million while foiling various smuggling attempts during May, 2016.

Following the directions of Gwadar Customs Collector Saeed Akram, the anti-smuggling squad conducted various raids against the smugglers in the regions, while activities have been expedited with the start of last month of current fiscal year.

During May, the collectorate seized 300 bottles of liquor, 1200 cans of Iranian diesel and petrol, 36000 litres of diesel, 180 kilogram of charas, 250 imported watches, chemical used for manufacturing drugs, 100 cameras, 12 air conditioners, 50 cell phones and miscellaneous items, sources said.

The sources added that the customs officials also impounded vehicles, truck and a bus worth Rs 40 million and arrested 12 culprits during the said period.
