Gwadar Customs seizes Rs 12.7m smuggled goods from two buses

KARACHI: Gwadar Customs has seized huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs 12.7 million from two passenger buses at Bawani area.

According to Gwadar Collector Saeed Akram, on a tipoff that a huge quantity of goods was being smuggled from Quetta to Karachi, he constituted two teams for vigilance on the said route.

After three-day surveillance, the team intercepted two passenger buses and recovered huge quantity of contraband goods worth Rs 12.7 million. The buses were taken to Customs House Gaddani under logistic support of FC Escort.

The recovered goods, including Indian Gutkha, foreign cigarettes, electronic goods, menthol crystal, generators, tyres and others, were concealed in the especially designed cavities in the buses.

FIRs have been lodged and efforts were being made to arrest the culprits.
