Gwadar Customs seizes smuggled goods worth Rs256m during 1Q of FY-21: Collector Tahir Ali Qureshi

GWADAR: Collectorate of Customs Collector Dr Tahir Ai Qureishi has said that Anti Smuggling Organization Gwadar seized smuggled goods worth Rs256 million during first quarter of financial year 2020-21.

Talking with Customs Today during an exclusive talk, he said that during first quarter (July to September) of FY 20-21 the Collectorate showed outstanding performance despite Covid-19, providing details of arrangements put into practice for safety of customs staff against Covid-19 pandemic, he said we are working for being essential services and following all precautions being issued by the Government and the FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) time and again.

Answering to a query he said that during first quarter the ASO Gwadar registered 69 cases worth Rs255.318 million against the smugglers who use Gwadar region for smuggling of non duty paid vehicles and other miscellaneous smuggled goods.

He said that during first quarter, the ASO seized smuggled diesel 48,380 litters worth Rs4.212 million whereas the ASO registered 24 seizures of betel nuts 39,532 kilograms worth Rs88.686 million.

The ASO also impounded 59 bags of Indian origin gutkha worth Rs1.155 million as well as the anti smuggling squad seized 16 offending vehicles worth Rs65 million, adding that during first quarter the ASO the Gawdsr seized 29 of NDP vehicles worth Rs37.750 million registering 26 seizure cases.

The Collector Gawder said that the ASO also registered 11 cases of miscellaneous smuggled goods worth Rs.58.315 million.

Telling the details of revenue collection during first quarter the Collector Gawder Tahir Ali Qureshi said that the Collectorate earned Rs5748.312 million under head of all duty taxes, adding that Collectorate earned Rs.940.121 million of revenue under head of CD (customs duty) the Collector Tahir Qureshi concluded. The Collectorate collected ST (sales tax) in worth of Rs.3259.424 million as well as the Gawder collected Rs.537 million of revenue under head of WHT (Withholding tax) and it earned Rs.11.722 million of revenue under head of FED (federal excise duty) the Collector concluded. Ends
