Gwadar Customs seizes three non-duty paid generators

KARACHI: The Gwadar Customs claims to have seized three heavy-duty commercial generators during a successful raid and arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the smuggling bid.

According to details, Gwadar Customs Collector Saeed Akram received information that some elements were planning to smuggle foreign origin generators by a truck. On receiving this tip, he informed the anti-smuggling team and instructed them to use all available sources to curb the smuggling bid and arrest all those involved.

Acting on the directives, the anti-smuggling team established check-posts at the main entry and exit point of the Omara Road and started checking all commercial vehicles, especially trucks. During the checking of vehicles, the team intercepted a suspicious truck and pulled it over. During the searching of the truck the team recovered three generator of 200 kilowatt. The team asked the driver to produce legal documents of the generators, but he was failed to produce any customs clearance documents. The Customs officials seized the generators and arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in smuggling. A case has been made against the accused, while further investigation is underway. Officials said that the estimated value of the seized generators is more than Rs 6 million in the market.
