Gwadar I&I foils bid to smuggle goods worth Rs21.3m to Karachi

GWADAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investiation (I&I) has seized huge quantity of smuggled goods along with a passenger bus worth Rs21.3 million during an intelligence based operation (IBO).

Sources said that on the directives of Director Gwadar Agha Saeed, Deputy Director Rana Aftab and Intelligence Officer Hanif Kurd have enhanced vigilance to check movement of smuggled goods.

An official said miscellaneous foreign origin goods including Iranian confectionary, tyres, tiles, cloth, auto parts and cigarettes are transported to Yousuf goth Karachi. Yousuf Goth is the dumping place of smuggled goods. From here, these goods are distributed across the city in around 300 Suzuki pickups.

It is necessary to mention here that Gwadar Customs is using all available resources to thwart any attempt of smuggling in the jurisdiction.
