Gwadar I&I foils bid to smuggle HSD oil worth Rs24m

GWADAR: Regional Directorate of  Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has seized huge quantity of High Speed Diesel (HSD) Oil that was being smuggled into the country. The operation was carried out on the directions of Director General I&I- Customs, who directed Director I&I Gwadar Moeen Afzal to take action against the smugglers.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Majid Gaad, Intelligence officer Muhammad Sadiq and their team intercepted a truck near Gwadar port that was loaded with clinker. Upon detailed examination, they discovered a hidden tank containing 30,000 liters of HSD Oil under the clinker.

The value of the smuggled HSD Oil / Diesel is estimated to be Rs. 9.0 million, while the offending vehicle is valued at Rs15 million.

The total value of the seizure is Rs24 million. The Directorate has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the culprits and initiated further investigation. The Directorate has also appreciated the efforts of the staff involved in the successful operation.
