Gwadar I&I seizes smuggled goods worth Rs125m in IBOs

GWADAR: Regional Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation (I&I) under the leadership of DG Faiz Ahmed and Director Jamshed Talpur has conducted different intelligence based operations (IBO) and seized smuggled goods worth Rs125 million.

On April 24, 2024, acting on intelligence, a team from the Directorate,  the Intelligence Bureau and District Police Hub, raided a warehouse in Emarat City, District Hub. The operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 15.25 tons of smuggled betel nuts and 4,490 kilograms of parachute cloth, valued at Rs. 63.546 million. The goods were transported to Customs House Gadani for examination and legal action.

The following day, the Directorate, with the support of Frontier Corps and local police, executed another raid in the same locality. This operation yielded 11.421 tons of betel nuts, monosodium glutamate, cutch blocks, plastic shoppers, tiles border, and mixed cloth, with a combined value of Rs. 54.87 million.

On the night of April 25, 2024, the Directorate seized 4,000 liters of smuggled High-Speed Diesel (HSD) concealed within a Hino Truck’s secret tanks. The total value of the seized HSD and vehicle is estimated at Rs. 6.92 million.

The grand total of all seizures amounts to Rs. 125.329 million. The Directorate has initiated further legal proceedings against the involved parties.
