Gwadar Port chief vows 30-day free storage for goods import and export

GWADAR: Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) Chairman Noorul Haq Baloch announced a 30-day free storage period for import and export of goods through Gwadar Port.

He expressed these views during a meeting with the All Pakistan Shipping Association (APSA) in Gwadar.

Noorul Haq Baloch said that Gwadar Port’s approach channel is the smallest compared with the other approach channels of the other airports.

He said that access to Central Asian countries and Zahidan is becoming easier from Gwadar Port.

The Gwadar Port Authority Chairman said that one container arrived from China at Gwadar via the Balochistan route in 2015.

He said that in case the trade through the Strait of Hormuz is disrupted, then Gwadar Port will become an alternative trade route.

Noorul Haq Baloch said that the government already announced tax exemptions and special incentives to investors of Gwadar Free Zone.

He said that a six-lane expressway connecting Gwadar Port and Free Zone to the Coastal Highway. He invited businessmen and investors to avail investment opportunities in Gwadar.

The Director of Customs Transit Trade gave a comprehensive and detailed briefing about Gwadar Port to the shipping association.
