Haroon Akhtar presides meeting of lawyers on Pakistan Custom’s panel

KARACHI: Advisor to Prime Minister on Revenue Affairs Haroon Akhtar Khan presided a meeting of lawyers on panel of Pakistan Customs and reviewed the cases involving huge money.

About 22 lawyers on the panel belonging to almost all the formations and collectorates including East, West, Port Qasim, Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU), Regional Tax Offices were summoned to discuss the proceedings in dozens of cases pending since long.

The advisor inquired about the reasons for delay in decision of these cases involving huge amounts in taxes, custom duties and other levies. He discussed each and every case with the lawyer concerned, reason for pendency and strategy for an early decision in these cases.

He also assured the lawyers on Customs panel of increasing their fee for each case. Those who attended the meeting include Raja Muhammad Iqbal, senior advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan. Amjad Javed Hashmi, Masooda Siraj, Kafeel Ahmed Abbasi, Khalil Dogar, Shakeel Ahmed, Saleem Mangrio, Kashif Nazeer, Sarfraz Metlo, Aqeel Qureshi advocates.
