Haroon Akhtar to visit Karachi next week to review revenue collection measures

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan will hold a series of meetings with the members of Overseas Chamber of Commerce and Industry and also with the members of Pakistan Business Council during his three-day visit to Karachi starting next week.

He will leave for Islamabad on the evening of February 8 and will also hold meetings with chief commissioners and chief collectors. These meeting will be held in OICCI building, PBC Building, Large Taxpayer Unit and Modal Customs Collectorate Karachi.

The main purpose of minister’s visit to Karachi is to increase revenue collections and speed up the efforts to achieve collection target. He will take the business community in confidence regarding the benami transaction law.

Sources said that Haroon Akhtar believed the FBR could achieve the revenue target of Rs 3,621 billion because the board has potential for tax collection. After the Karachi visit, he will to to Lahore.
