HCCI criticizes power shut down in urban localities

HYDERABAD: The Vice President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ziauddin has strongly criticized eight to ten hours long power shut down by Hyderabad Electric Supply Company in Hyderabad City, Latifabad and Qasimabad.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Ziauddin said that the civic activities in urban localities of Hyderabad have become on halt with miserable condition of the people as a result of eight to ten hours long power shut down in the name of repair and maintenance of installations of HESCO.

He said that hours long power shut down also badly disrupted the smooth functioning of trade and industrial activities which also causing unemployment and irking the people to come out on roads for agitation.

He said that HESCO management has failed to curb the menace of power theft and kunda culture therefore it has started unannounced load shedding and power shut down to reduce the line losses. Heavy detection bills are being issued to power consumers with installation of speedy runner digital meters which is clear injustice with them, he said.

He demanded the district administration Hyderabad to take notice over such violation of HESCO management and ensure strict monitoring of power supply with appointment of Assistant Commissioners at the Grid Stations and Operation Divisions of HESCO.He, on behalf of the business community, has appealed to the authorities concerned to take notice of the situation.
