HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) Sunday hailed the Sindh government’s initiative of setting up combined effluent treatment plants (CETPs) in the SITE areas in Karachi and called for establsihing a similar CETP for SITE Hyderabad.
“The industrial units in Hyderabad SITE can’t install an effluent treatment plant individually in all the units,” HCCI President Seth Goharullah said here in a statement.
He lamented that the Sindh Environment Protection Authority’s (SEPA) actions for non-compliance of environment rules were hurting the industry. He requested the federal and provincial governments to equally share the total cost of setting up a CETP in Hyderabad.
“The construction of that plant in Hyderabad is very necessary to protect the river and canal water from pollution,” he underscored.
