TOKYO: Hearthstone card game is now available on iOS and Android smartphones, with a new interface, designed specifically for smaller screens.
Hearthstone launched on PC in March 2014, and was followed by iOS and Android tablet versions later in the year.
However, the game hasn’t been available on phones until now, due to Blizzard’s desire to adapt it to small screens, rather than simply scaling down the tablet version, which could create usability concerns.
“We’re excited to welcome mobile gamers to the Hearthstone community,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.
“Hearthstone’s quick, super-accessible Gameplay is perfect for gaming on the go, and with the mobile versions it’s incredibly easy to jump into a match and have some fun.”
All content previously released for the desktop and tablet versions of Hearthstone, including the Curse of Naxramas adventure and Goblins vs Gnomes expansion, are available on phones as well.
All progress is saved across devices, so existing players will have full access to their existing card collection when they log on to the phone version, and everyone will be able to switch between devices at will.
To celebrate the phone version’s release, Blizzard are giving everyone who completes a game on their phone (in any game mode) one free Classic card pack. Anyone playing on tablet for the first time can also get a free pack, in addition to the one for the mobile version.
