LAHORE: A heavy tax has been imposed on registration and transfer of vehicles. The step has brought revenue losses for motor branch and the number of new registration of vehicles has decreased as car owners are moving to other provinces for registration purposes.
A large number of vehicle owners are moving to other provinces to register their new vehicles from other provinces because of heavy taxes in Punjab. Due to taxes on registration and transfer of vehicles a lot of people are using vehicles on open latter which is security risk as well. Decreasing number of new registration of vehicles is affecting the revenue collection of Excise Motor Branch and it is not possible for them now to achieve their target of the year.
Punjab Government has already written a letter to the federal Government to show concerns on heavy taxes on new registration and transfers.
