UK Customs team to visit Pakistan next month

ISLAMABAD: A high level delegation of Her Majesty Revenue and Customs UK will visit Pakistan next month.

Sources told Customs Today that during the visit, the UK delegation will discuss progress on Automatic Exchange of Information project with their Pakistani counterparts. Sources said that this project is being completed under the auspices of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Pakistan will also announce a delegation who will represent the country at this forum.

Sources said that this project will be completed during next year. After completion of this project Pakistan and United Kingdom will get access to banking accounts of their nationals who are residing in other countries.  Sources said that through this project Pakistan will automatically get assessment to all Pakistani account holders who are residing in United Kingdom.

Sources said that prominent among those whose bank accounts will be available for assessment includes Mian Mansha, Chairman Bahria Town Malik Riaz Hussain, and ex president Asif Ali Zardari.

Sources said that FBR will determine that whether these persons made cash transactions after paying taxes or not. Chairman FBR Nisar Mohammad Khan has also said that this project help a lot to curb tax evasion not in the country but also abroad.
