Hesco starts drive to recover dues from govt depts

NAWABSHAH: In a bid to recover longstanding dues from the government departments, the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) has launched a disconnection campaign.

Executive Engineer HESCO Gulzar Dasti told media that department has launched recovery campaign to recover Rs 2579 million. He said that Sindh Irrigation Development Authority (SIDA) was the defaulter of Rs 1604.251 million while Salinity control and reclamation programme (SCARP) stood second with Rs 490.39 million dues. Gulzar Dasti said that Municipal Committees of Nawabshah, Daur and Sakrand owe Rs 69.81 million, Rs 106.78 million and Rs 58.60 million respectively.

He further told that departments of education, police, agriculture, forest, irrigation, Auqaf, Public Health Engineering and other government departments were also in line of fire. He said that these departments were issued notices for payment of outstanding dues for number of times but after their failure power supply was disconnected. He said that however power supply to hospitals was not disconnected on the humanitarian ground but they were issued warning for making payment at the earliest.
