Hino truck loaded with 12,740 kg of China made firecrackers taken into possession

HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence & Investigation Hyderabad confiscated foreign origin 12,740 kg of China made firecrackers along with a Hino truck valued at Rs5.2million at a bypass near Hatri police station. Sources told Customs Today that these items were being smuggled from Lahore into interior Sindh during the month of September 2017-18.

Director Intelligence and Investigation Customs Hyderabad Tahir Qureshi received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of above said goods. He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Superintendent of Hyderabad Rana Vilayet Ali.

The team intercepted a Hino truck with registration NO: GLTB-797 near Hatri police station Bypass and recovered the said items.

The team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce the legal documents regarding the import and possession of goods, but he failed to do. The customs seized the items under the customs bylaws.

After making a seizure report, the authorities deposited the confiscated goods into Hyderabad State Warehouse.

The Intelligence and Investigation Hyderabad team comprised Inspectors Syed Shafiqe Ali, Shjuat Hussain, Mujeeb Jalbani, Anees Ahmed Khan, Sepoys Ishaqe Ahmed, Ghayas Ahmed, Aslam Chuan, Sikandar Malaha, Musrat Ali Shah and Driver Hanif Somroo.
