HONG KONG: A 25-year-old woman was arrested at Hong Kong International Airport here the other day with 2.3 kilograms of suspected cocaine disguised as soap bars in her luggage.
Keeping one’s nose clean just took on a whole new meaning.
The woman, who arrived in Hong Kong from Kolkata, India, drew suspicion from customs officers after they spotted 14 pieces of soap and two bottles of cosmetic products in her checked luggage. Nobody’s that clean!
After an in-depth examination, officers found the packaging contained suspected cocaine, thought to have a street value of HKD2.4 million.
The 25-year-old, who claims to be a therapist, will appear at Tsuen Wan Magistrates’ Court today charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
She could receive life imprisonment and a fine of HKD5 million if found guilty.
