TOKYO: The Japanese based automaker, Honda has revealed that the new Civic generation compact car will get a new 1.5 liter turbo engine. This will be offered as an entry-level but a variant with more power will also become available. The unit will be introduced in several power levels and it will be meeting the emission standards easily.
The turbo and the VTEC technology will also help the vehicles to increase their performance while dropping the fuel consumption significantly and it seems that the new 1.5 liter unit will be offering the same output figures as the current 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter engines. The new generation of the Honda Civic is expected to go official over the next two years but the newest version of the model is the recently unveiled Civic Type R, which is getting a new body kit, sports seats, 19-inch wheels and so on. The model is taking its power from a four-cylinder turbo petrol 2.0 liter unit, which is capable of producing 310 HP (228 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, enough for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint made in 5.7s and a top speed of 270 km/h (167 mph).
