HONG KONG: Hong Kong food safety regulators have banned imports from French oyster processor Madec Yvon due to raw oysters that tested positive for norovirus, the regulator said.
According to the government’s Center for Food Safety and its Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, the department was made aware of the finding after testing by European Union officials.
In a press release the agency said that “small quantity of the affected product” was imported into Hong Kong. Lannilis, France-based Madec Yvon is issuing a recall.
“For the sake of prudence, the CFS has immediately banned the import into and sale within Hong Kong of all raw oysters produced by the manufacturer concerned,” the release stated.
