HONG KONG: Hong Kong Customs yesterday arrested a 47-year-old woman in Tin Shiu Wai who was carrying a parcel of about 105 grams of suspected methamphetamine destined for Australia. Customs officers also arrested a 43-year-old man in the vicinity.
Customs officers then escorted the arrested man for a premises search in in Fanling. About 620g of suspected methamphetamine and a large quantity of packaging materials were seized.
Further investigation revealed that the two arrested persons were in connection with two suspected drug parcel cases detected earlier at the airport by Customs officers.
The duo were suspected to have attempted to send air parcels of about 370g of suspected methamphetamine to Australia.
The market value of the suspected drug seized was about $340,000.
The two arrested persons, both claimed as unemployed, were jointly charged with three counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug. The arrested man was additionally charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
