HONG KONG: Hong Kong Customs arrested a man at Lok Ma Chau Control Point and seized 776 grams of suspected heroin and 10 suspected Nimetazepam tablets, with a total market value of about $630,000.
Customs officers intercepted an inbound passenger at Lok Ma Chau Control Point yesterday afternoon and found 350g of suspected heroin on him. Customs officers subsequently seized 29g of suspected heroin from his private car, and 397g of suspected heroin together with 10 Nimetazepam tables from his residence.
The arrested man, aged 49, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. He will appear at Fanling Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow (September 22).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence.
The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
