HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks ended the morning session 0.93 percent lower Thursday, in line with Asia-wide losses after disappointingly slow growth in the US economy.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index dipped 264.05 points to 28,136.29 by lunch on turnover of HK$86.85 billion (US$11.21 billion).
In mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.10 percent, or 4.26 points, to 4,472.36.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, added 1.40 percent, or 31.48 points, to 2,286.46.
The US Commerce Department said Wednesday that the world’s largest economy expanded at an annual pace of just 0.2 percent in the January-March period, after 2.2 percent in the final quarter of 2014.
