HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks ended the morning session flat Thursday while Shanghai rallied on hopes for more stimulus measures after a gauge of Chinese manufacturing showed activity continued to contract in May but at a slower rate.
The Hang Seng Index edged down 10.51 points to 27,574.54 on turnover of HK$66.49 billion ($8.58 billion).
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 1.12 percent, or 49.81 points, to 4,496.10.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, jumped 2.73 percent, or 71.51 points, to 2,690.83.
