HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares rose 0.89 percent in the morning Thursday, tracking a broad advance across Asia and following a strong close on Wall Street.
The Hang Seng Index added 236.23 points to 26,923.87 by the break, on turnover of HK$71.55 billion (US$9.23 billion).
But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.19 percent, or 9.67 points, to 5,096.37.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, gained 0.61 percent, or 18.70 points, to 3,074.28.
