HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks have opened up 1.71 per cent after an extended weekend, with investors welcoming last week’s soft US jobs data that tempered the chances of an early interest rate hike.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 432.60 points to 25,708.24 on Wednesday.
In mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 0.36 per cent, or 14.33 points, to 3,975.71.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, gained 0.32 per cent, or 6.82 points, to 2,130.91.
