Rs1.5b housing society scam: NAB arrests owner of private TV channel

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau arrested Zahoor Wattoo for cheating public at large. The arrested is also owner of a private news channel.
NAB took action after more than 1100 affectees filed complaints with NAB Lahore, saying that they were deprived of their hard earned money while the accused used the ill-gotten money for his personal gains.

Zahoor Wattoo is the owner of a private TV channel and adviser to former Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi was arrested due to his involvement in Formanites housing scheme scam of Rs1.5 billion.

It is pertinent to mention here that NAB authorities found frequent instances of duplication and cancellation of plots without any justification and plausible reasons during its investigations.

In 2003-2004, the accused illegally started booking and selling of plots in Phase-II of the housing scheme for which no land was specified in the first place, and continued the practice recklessly over a long period of time.
