How much edge Volkswagen will have over Tesla with its Robotic EV Charging Station?

SYDNEY: It hasn’t been much time when Tesla boss billionaire Elon Musk hinted on a possible Robotic electric vehicle charging station, Volkswagen however has transformed that idea into a reality with its robotic charging station named the VW smart connect. So here’s how it operates, you go to the charging station and the car drops you off, later on, the car goes to the holding area where it waits for its turn and then it charges and returns, you are all set to move ahead with your journey.

It won’t be wrong to say that this is a fantasy that has turned into reality, though it still throws light on the fact that one day supercharging stations will one day self-plug themselves into cars. With its new robotic stations, Volkswagen is again leading the way in the electric car space, while it is also looking to come up with the next gen electric vehicles.

To ensure that the refueling process for cars is as easy and convenient as possible, engineers are in the process to develop an automated direct-current charging system named e-smart connect. Volkswagen has also said that its batteries will be able to cover a range of 500 km, thanks to the energy density and capacity of these batteries.

This shows how committed Volkswagen is with its vision for automated charging system that is far more reliable, convenient and takes little time. The automated parking feature that we’re talking about will require communication between the vehicle and the charging stations. While the e-smart connect feature would also ensure that there is no danger when humans interact with the robots.

The point here is that how much edge Volkswagen will have over Tesla with its initiative. We have already talked about the Gigafactory that Tesla is building to lower down the cost of its lithium-ion batteries, while Elon Musk also wants to pioneer in this technology. This shows how electric cars makers are trying to lower down the cost of operating their vehicles so that they can easily be targeted to the masses. Let’s see what the next technological innovation is coming from these electric car makers, given the increasing adoption of electric cars.
